Business Development Manager NA

 

A.T.A.’s North America Office falls under the Marketing Unit, and is responsible for developing and executing all marketing, sales and communication strategies, policies and plans for the A.T.A. and the Aruba brand, as well as executing all marketing-related activities in the market. 

We are looking for a Business Development Manager (BDM) for the North American market based in the Boston area. This role reports to the Senior Business Development Manager (SBDM) regarding the strategic planning, quality, and outcomes of organized sales and promotional events and activities for the specific Geographic Designated Sales Area (GDSA) assigned. 

The responsibilities are:

 

Sales Strategy 

  • Assists the SBDM with the development of the annual Sales Strategy to achieve visitation targets as defined in A.T.A.’s Annual Corporate Plan;
  • Assists in identifying and evaluating sales opportunities in assigned GDSA and potential new markets, growth areas and seeks new and expanded preferred trade /consumer partnership programs; 
  • Monitors industry activities including trade and consumer shows, sales initiatives, and performs periodic competitor analysis, and communicates this to the respective SBDM;
  • Analyzes market strategies by monitoring industry trends and provides the necessary recommendations to the SBDM;
  • Advises on strategy and tactics which may provide the destination with a competitive edge in the market (i.e. special promotion, added value items, special packages);
  • Executes the Trade Marketing partnership programs in support of Strategic plan;
  • Works closely with the Partnership Marketing Manager on trade marketing opportunities as needed;
  • Continuously works on executing the Lead Management Strategy;
  • Provides input regarding information, promotional needs and value-add promotions / incentives for the area marketing and promotion plan.

Sales Execution

  • Collaborates with SBDMs on development of annual budget of designated GDSA;
  • Monitors allocated budget utilization and advises on monthly variances; 
  • Continuously updates and manages leads, ensuring proper post-event follow-ups; 
  • The BDM represents Aruba for their GDSA at consumer and travel tradeshows, seminars, and conventions, delivering presentations, workshops, and training sessions (ACE) to the relevant tour operators;
  • Provides recommendation to the SBDMs and/or Sales & Marketing Executive for the development/ upgrading of marketing collateral and promotional materials (digital and in-hand);
  • Assists with the development and/or provides feedback to the SBDM related to presentations (webinars, conferences/trade shows, trade partner activities and destination sponsored events to ensure continuity;
  • Collaborates with SBDMs, Area Director and ATA Branding Unit for development of guidelines / protocols for Aruba Destination presentations, Trade / Consumer sales shows activities and Uniformity standards in support Aruba branding guidelines;
  • Assists with the development of Social Media communications plan and executes plan in collaboration with the SBDM’s for trade marketing and creative training initiatives (e.g. ATE, IG Stories);
  • Collaborates with Trade Liaison, SBDM, and Area Director for expansion of agents.aruba.com to include global markets;
  • Ensures timely Monthly reporting through Project Management Platform (e.g. Monday.com) & Sales Platform (e.g. Sales Force) of activities and budget administration as indicated by Area Director. 

The qualities we are looking for are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business Administration;
  • Minimum of five years relevant hospitality and/or tourism marketing;
  • Leadership/management skills and ability to lead and motivate teams toward achieving successful results;
  • Knowledge of sales strategies;
  • Ability to manage, communicate and coordinate sales activities accordingly;
  • Analytical skills;
  • Detail Oriented;
  • Results Oriented;
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills;
  • Skilled in preparing and conducting presentations;
  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills to clearly present recommendations and/or ideas and to summarize complex issues.
